Jean’s Craft Club

CCHCE Craft Club will be named “Jean’s Craft Club” in honor of a long time CCHCE member (66 years), Jean Swaim, who was very talented with crafts and taught many crafts such as crochet, quilting, tole painting, ceramics, and many more.  She always entered several projects in the Cultural Arts Day in different categories and several were voted to be sent to the IAHCE State Conference each year.

“Jean’s Craft Club” will meet following the Extension Lesson given each month at approximately 10:15 a.m. at the Champaign County Farm Bureau Auditorium (FBA)  801 Country Fair Drive, Champaign

May 5th – 3 hour session to learn how to Crochet.  Those that Crochet, please bring your projects and join the group and share.

November 1 – Canvas Message board (this will be a great gifting item)

2016 Craft Dates
May 20

:  4th of July clothespin wreath & others; Memorial
Day cemetery piece at 9:00 am (we will have 3 hrs.)

June 3 Quilt block painting on wood at 9:00 am (we will
have 3 hrs.) Bring a design you like.

July 5:   Herb Garden on a 3 ft. stand 9:00 a.m.(we will have 3 hrs.)
Bring 7 medium size cans. Cost is $4.00 – RSVP   721-2627

August 5:  Fall crafts:  Sunflower wreath and another project
having to do with letters.  10:15 a.m.  cost is $12.  Please bring your scissors and a pair of needle nose pliers.  
The other project:  it’s a piece of wood that can be hand painted or left like it is and then add whatever message you want.  We will have the lettering to glue on that have a fall design on them.  That cost is $5 or may be even less.  Please RSVP by July 21st  – 721-2627

September 2:  Christmas ornaments – 10:15 a.m.

October 7:  Quilt pot holders, Hanging kitchen towels (will
need our sewing machines).

November 4:  Fabric bowl; more Christmas projects (will
need our sewing machines again). TIME 2:15 p.m. Lesson at 1:00

December 15 – 9:00 a.m. – 12 noon. FBA
bring your Christmas gifts and we will wrap them
NO CHARGE – includes gift care some decorations.  Also hot chocolate, tea and cookies will be served – a craft, BINGO – a fun time – Please come!

Come and join us and have some fun.

There will be a small fee for the day to cover expenses of the craft.

March 4, 2016 – Craft being offered – 10:15 a.m. at Farm Bureau Auditorium


Flowers can be of various sizes.  They can be used for decor, for a broach, for a hair bow, added to an outfit, etc.  We will provide the cloth circles (10 of them), but if you have particular fabric or color you want to use, please bring it with you and we’ll help.  We will be cutting the fabric into circles with a 4 inch diameter.   Please bring scissors, sewing needle and a thimble. We will be sewing beads onto the flower.

The cost is $2.00.  Please call (RSVP below) if you’re planning to come, but we still welcome drop ins.  Thank you for participating.
